Realigning Law, Values, & Technology

Have we taken a wrong turn?

While the internet and digital technologies has delivered wonders, they have also revealed, exacerbated, or simply thrown into stark relief a misalignment between intellectual property and competition law, our fundamental values, and expectations for a just society.

In Chokepoint Capitalism, Rebecca Giblin and her co-author Cory Doctorow explore how creative labor markets have been captured and distorted, suggesting interventions to restore the balance that allows them to function as intended.

Jessica Silbey’s Against Progress examines how intellectual property law’s progress has grown separate from art, science, and social justice today, and how they might be reunited.

Join Rebecca Giblin and Jessica Silbey as they discuss their work in conversation with Engelberg Center Faculty Co-Director Jason Schultz.
